As Christians, we know that it’s by God’s grace alone that we are forgiven and saved. He gives this gift freely because He loves us, not because of anything we did or can ever do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isn’t that amazing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, oftentimes, I come to God like a little puppy with my tail between my legs ready to get in trouble for what I\u2019ve done. I start my \u2018woe as me\u2019 prayer, begging for forgiveness, but not really feeling forgiven. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I feel heavy with guilt and no matter what I say to God, I just don\u2019t feel like it\u2019s enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, this has got to stop, don’t you think? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

God’s Grace and Repentance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Repentance is so important. We, of course, must repent for our sins. And we must do our absolute best to discontinue the sin by allowing Christ into our hearts to change us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there is this thing called grace. And we have salvation by grace. <\/p>\n\n\n

Jesus has already died for all our sins because He knew we would fail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So why then do we constantly feel the weight of guilt and sin on our shoulders? Do we not believe God when He says we are covered by grace?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, I\u2019m not saying we should shout for joy when we sin and not feel any remorse for having done so. But, at the risk of sounding contradictory, we really should be shouting for joy each time we sin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because every time we sin, Jesus has already paid the price. And each time we mess up, we should get down on our knees, repent, and joyfully thank God for not repaying that sin with its just dues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So instead of coming to God depressed and forlorn, come to God with thanksgiving and praise for his grace, and boldly declare what He has said through His word. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claim the free gift that God has given you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We need to stop wasting our energy and God\u2019s time on begging and bargaining for forgiveness that God has already given us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, have a conversation with God about your sin. Tell Him why you\u2019re struggling and ask Him to help you fight the temptation next time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then…move on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t dwell on it. Don\u2019t give it power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sin No Longer Has Power<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sin no longer has power over those who have accepted Christ as their savior. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus has already won the war on sin. Sin is still wrong, yes. But sin is not in control. Sin has already lost the battle. We just have to surrender it over to God.<\/p>\n\n\n

God needs warriors. But how can we fight the good fight if we cannot even accept the most basic principle of God\u2019s grace? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So this is a reminder\u2026you are forgiven. By God\u2019s grace, you have been set free from the shackles of sin. And with prayer and giving your heart over to Christ, your desires will fall in line with God\u2019s will for your life. And eventually, the desire for sin will start to fall away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sin will creep into our lives from time to time. We are\nhuman, after all. And the enemy is working hard to make sure we all fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the enemy is not solely trying to get us to sin. The\nenemy wants us to sin so that we give up; so that we give up on God and give up\non ourselves. The enemy wants us to become slaves to our sin because God cannot\ndwell where there is sin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Enemy Wants Us to Believe There is No Hope<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The enemy wants us to believe that there is no hope and that there is no way we will ever overcome our sins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the Bible tells us that we are no longer slaves to our sin, although Satan will have us believe the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so\nthat grace may multiply? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live\nin it? Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus\nwere baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into\ndeath, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of\nthe Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life. For if we have been joined\nwith Him in the likeness of His death, we will certainly also be in the\nlikeness of His resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with\nHim in order that sin\u2019s dominion over the body may be abolished, so that we may\nno longer be enslaved to sin, since a person who has died is freed from sin\u2019s\nclaims. ~ <\/em>Romans 6:1-7 (HCSB)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the scripture tells us, we are freed from sin. We were\nburied with Christ, and now aim to walk in a new way, the Christ way. We are no\nlonger slaves to sin. So we need to stop listening to Satan and listen to what\nGod is telling us to be true. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Accept God’s Grace?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In closing, I encourage you to simply accept and believe that God\u2019s grace covers you. How do you accept his grace and free yourself from that gnawing feeling of guilt?<\/p>\n\n\n

You do this by reading His Word and believing what He says about His children. Pray daily for God to help you receive His grace and rid yourself of the shackles of sin’s side effects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Know and believe that you are forgiven. Know that when you mess up, you are still covered by grace and you are still forgiven. Aim to please God in all that you do, eliminating sinful behavior from your life. And when you make a mistake and sin, repent and stand on God\u2019s Word. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not give power to sin by sulking and feeling hopeless, but instead glorify God for his grace and forgiveness. Accept Christ into your heart and commit to building a personal relationship with Him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually, those evil temptations will become easier to resist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
