15 Christian Christmas Movies for Kids

If you try to find Christian Christmas movies for kids, you’ll likely be a little disappointed at the lack of options. As Christians, we know that Christmas is not about Santa, it’s about Christ. However, the number of kids’ Christmas movies centered around Santa is astounding.

I love the Christmas season. And growing up, we always enjoyed the classic holiday animated films. So, every year I carry that same tradition from my childhood and play those same classics for my family.

You know what I’m talking about. The classic “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, and “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” stop-animation movies.

But this year, as I was excitedly putting in Christmas movies for our family to watch, specifically for our kids, I noticed that just about all of them were focused around Santa!

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love a good Santa movie. I think they’re cute and fun. But as a Christian household that strongly values teaching our kids Truth, I do not teach my kids that Santa Clause is real.

However, this year, I discovered that my 4-year-old was indeed believing that Santa was real. And yes, he is only 4. But since we never overtly told him he was real, the only conclusion that made sense was that all the Christmas films he was watching about Santa were confusing him!

So, I promptly explained to him that Santa is a fun character that we can have fun with for the holidays, but that he is not real.

Since then, I’ve been paying very close attention to the holiday movies I’ve been playing. And probably every single one with the exception of a few centers around Santa.

That’s a problem.

So, while I will still include some of the classic Christmas movies every year, I have a new goal to increase the amount of Christ-centered Christmas movies in our collection. In fact, I’d like the Christ-centered films to outnumber the Santa ones.

In this post, I will be listing 15 Christian Christmas movies for kids that either focus on the true meaning of Christmas, or have elements that point to the true meaning, which is Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior.
